YOU'RE THE BANKER Board Game (1973)

Image
  • For sale is a copy of You're the Banker by Federal Reserve of Minneapolis 1973.

  • The item is in new condition and is factory sealed. There are rips in the plastic as the game has been sitting on a shelf unopened for 50 years. The box itself is in excellent condition and presumably the game inside is as well.

  • This is not a common, mass produced game. I have owned this game for a very long time and I have only seen 2-3 other copies ever listed, and I have never seen a sealed copy.

  • The maker of this game appears to be the government. Very unusual. The copyright is attributed to Federal Reserve of Minneapolis. This game is a rare insight into what the federal reserve thought you should learn about money 50 years ago.

  • Official Description: You're the Banker is an educational game, designed to be played by large groups of students (up to 30 in 5 groups of 6). The game aims to teach the purpose and practices of the Federal Reserve Bank, by having teams of players run banks. Many of the consequences in the game are automated, but the teacher/moderator of the game is required to decide whether loans are sufficiently sound to accept as collateral for borrowing from the Federal Reserve.
