Here is one of a series of rare antique aeroplane advertising cards featuring gorgeous color examples of exotic and fantastical machines that pioneered the way for today’s airplanes. This card depicts in great detail THE R.E.P. MONOPLANE – condition is good to very good, no creases, some corner softness as expected, no marks or stains and lovely colors  -  especially attractive, as are all the cards from this rare and unique series. The 12 card set, designated as  K110 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue, measures 2 5/8” x 4 1/8” and was issued by International Coffee Co, Greenwich and Vandam Sts, New York circa 1900-1910. The back of the card also features a paragraph with facts and historical info about THE R.E.P. MONOPLANE. The cards were inserts and you would get one inside a package of Old Homestead Coffee.  The premium or special offer was “a complete set of 12 cards sent to your grocer in your name for a 2 Cent stamp” – what a difference 100 years makes. We have acquired 11 of the 12 cards in the series – this after long pursuit from an old local collector who finally gave them up.  The 11 cards are being listed individually  - these are some of the most beautiful and special cards I have ever seen, Printed in Germany and easily 110-120 years old.
