When my B.O.T.A. deck frayed at the edges, I used this one for a year. I had come across a dozen in a shoebox at a yard sale and bought the lot for $10. None of the packs had a Little White Book, so the information on the back of the box was my only explanation of the symbol set: “Based on the continued knowledge, wisdom, and interpretation of Paul Foster Case (my mentor) and Edward Arthur Waite.” U.S. Games Systems, Inc. now sells this deck as a set which includes The Book of Tarot, by Susan Gerulskis-Estes.
At the end of the year, when I felt pretty comfortable with the imagery, a querent came along to ask, “Did you know each of the backs is different? You can read from the backs!” This has had me compare the pattern of white stars on blue backgrounds. They’re not all alike! I remain curious about this.
