Tabebuia Chrysantha - Yellow Trumpet Tree

A native to South America's rainforests, this long lived tree reaches heights of up to 15m at full maturity with a rounded spreading canopy of around 13m in spread.

Leaves are opposite, lanceolate in shape, brown and somewhat hairy on the underside. Leaves will drop during the winter months, followed by flowers which finish blooming before the leaves grow back fully. The trunk can reach a diameter of up to 60cm wide, and the bark is light brown with shallow fissures that become more deeply set with age.

Flowers are trumpet shaped, yellow and highly scented, around 5cm long. Typically blossoms appear from February or March to take advantage of early rains. If the rainy season is delayed the tree may flower (and fruit) a second time.

Enjoys full sun to light shade and a well draining soil mixture.

Frost tender, it prefers warm and somewhat humid temperatures above 5°C.
