HiFonics ZEUS ZXT (EXTREME)

EXTREME hits the proverbial “nail on the head” here. In addition to the recently presented Extreme amplifiers with outputs of up to 13,000 watts RMS, the matching EXTREME woofers are now being added to the range. Available in 10, 12, 15 and even 18 inches, all important sizes are available to get brutal pressure into the car. 

The newly developed REINFORCED STRUCTURE ARRAY SURROUND (RSA surround for short), which is a distinguishing feature of the woofer, is immediately noticeable. It brings with it the necessary stability that becomes necessary at extreme levels. Apart from that, it just looks really cool and gives the series a modern design. By the way - the HiFonics Extreme logo is even embossed on the bead, which also serves as "copy protection".

From the 12" model upwards, all models have powerful 100 mm voice coils, which are wound extremely long at 58 mm, resulting in a large deflection and high resilience. (Note: With the 10" a 100 spool makes little sense, so there is a 76 mm spool in it). 

To prevent the membrane from twisting, we use a multi-layer construction. It consists of carbon at the top and glass fiber at the bottom, with cotton fibers in between. Glass fiber below, because carbon would conduct the carbon fibers electrically and we want to avoid the strands producing short circuits. Carbon is one of the most stable materials in the world, but it is also very expensive. Even the dust cap is made of carbon, which provides additional support for the membrane. All in all a dream of a subwoofer.

 

HiFonics has stood for EXTREME performance and superlatives for over 35 years. Everyone knows: HiFonics stands for strength, power and a lot of pressure. Matching the new "ÜBER" power amplifiers from the ZEUS EXTREME series with up to 13,000 watts RMS, the matching ZEUS subwoofers are now available.

 

Particularly striking is the triple magnet of the same size in Allen woofers, protected with a blue boat, whose lavish ferrite rings alone weigh a proud 8.5 kg without the chrome-plated steel pole plates. The "Reinforced Structure Array" surrounds, newly developed for the ZXT woofers and reinforced with vertical elements, also give an idea of ​​how much travel the carbon-reinforced membranes can achieve. These remain rock solid and are even comparatively light thanks to the triple sandwich construction.

 

So that the membranes can also optimally exploit the stroke, they are guided by 3-fold Nomex spiders as if on rails. This ensures that the membranes do not tilt even at extreme performance.

 

The Zeus subwoofers are also thermally well-equipped: the 10-inch woofer has voice coils that are already 76 mm in size, and from the 12-inch model even gigantic 100 mm in size. With an unbelievable 58 mm winding height, the membranes can make a linear stroke of +/- 23 mm. The voice coil is made of special pi-CCAR flat wire, which is aluminum flat wire with copper coating, which saves weight and is also heat-resistant up to 240 degrees. All in all, ingredients that impressively demonstrate the exceptional quality of the woofers. If you are looking for the ultimate level woofers, you cannot avoid the ZEUS EXTREME series.

 

EXTREME SOUND

Level until the doctor comes. That could be the transcendence of the new ZEUS EXTREME woofers. If, for example, you place the ZXT18D2 (46 cm subwoofer) in a corresponding bass reflex housing and drive it with a powerful power amplifier, then you will literally be breathless. The amount of air this series can move in the vehicle is truly breathtaking. Even the "smaller" ZXT12D2 beats so much in a bass reflex cabinet that it's hard to believe that there is only ONE woofer at work here.

If you are looking for the ultimate level woofers, you cannot avoid the ZEUS EXTREM series.

THE HISTORY OF POWER
