EMILIA COCCINEA “IRISH POET”, TASSEL FLOWER

This is a delicate, half hardy annual with gorgeous warm orange flowers. The pompom shaped flowers grow in clusters on tall spindly stems emerging from basal rosette of attractive blue- green leaves. The flowers have once been described as the windswept hair of an Irish poet- hence the name of the variety. Try this beauty at the front of the border or in containers where it can be appreciated up close. Nice for cutting. It can also be dried. Native to tropical Africa. It was introduced into England in 1799.
