ENGLISH STERLING SILVER MUSTARD POT

ABSTINANDO KING 1820

Pleased to offer this fabulous Georgian silver Mustard Pot made by Abstinando King.  This squat baluster wide lip pot is highly decorated in a high relief repousse original to the maker. Made from a thick gauge of silver allowing for more detail in the crispness of the respousse work.  The mustard pot displays a flower and leaf pattern through the top, body and handle.  The ring handle has a matching engraved flower and leaf pattern.  The pot sits atop a sloped raised circular base with relief detailing along the edge.  The top is hinged tight & firm with no play and is so well made the lid still "catches" closed.  The interior and top still show both well gilded.  A simply splendid pot with great charm & character.

The mustard pot measures   4 inches long from tip to handle and 3 inches wide and stands 3 inches tall to finial.  The pot weighs 168 grams (6oz)  Clearly punched with the makers mark of AB within a rectangle for Abstinado King, Lions passant for assayed English silver, leopards head with crown for London, Date letter of "e" for 1820, and regents head of King George III.  The top has matching marks.

The mustard pot came to me with a interesting Tiffany sterling curved condiment spoon with a floral & engraved along the entire stem.  The spoon stamped Tiffany & Co and an M for Edward Moore 1873-1891.  Probably a $125 values comes with the mustard pot..as they have been together for so long...who would separate them now :)
