UNTIL THE 1960S, GERMAN ROCK MUSIC WAS COMPLETELY FOCUSED ON MODELS FROM GREAT BRITAIN AND THE USA. ONLY BEFORE THE 1968 MOVEMENT DID SOMETHING LIKE AN INDEPENDENT GERMAN ROCK MUSIC DEVELOP, WHICH DID NOT SIMPLY IMITATE THE MUSIC OF THE MODELS, BUT WORKED IT UP AND PRESENTED THE RESULTS IN ITS OWN MUSIC.

In the beginning, various social, philosophical and political ideas played a significant role, as did a certain naivety. Soon, however, Amon Düül II was considered the leading band of a specifically German psychedelic rock. That there is an autonomous German rock music
which has also been able to meet internationally applicable standards since the 1980s and 1990s, owes a significant part to Amon Düül II.
