!!! LIMITED TIME HOLIDAY SALE !!!Handmade Gage D’Mor tobacco pouch that was carried by mainly French Canadian voyageurs, trappers, traders, “coureur de bois” and many others including Native people who came into contact with the traders. This bag is about 4.5”x4” and made of very soft white deerhide, decorated with transparent red glass beads, brass beads, tin cones and fringe. There are 2 slots in the flap for carrying a small pipe. This can also be used as a “medicine bag” or coin purse. The term “gage d’mor” means “a token of love” or something dear to the person’s heart. Usually they carried a small pipe, some tobacco, a means of lighting a fire and a way to carry and keep an ember lit such as punkwood or copper pipe with a cotton rope in it. A piece of Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and Canadian history!
