GLADIOLUS ILLYRICUS, DWARF GLADIOLUS

This is a very showy, dwarf species from Mediterranean , where it is quite often found on cultivated land and meadows. It has spikes of up to 10 showy flowers, carmine pink, with distinctive white marks on the lower petals. Unfussy about soil types as long as it is well drained. It can be grown in borders and containers. Nice cut flower.

-Sow: any time indoors; soak the seeds for 24h, just cover with soil; stratify for 3-4 weeks at 0- 5 C; germination 21- 30 days at 10- 15 C; outdoors sowing November- April is also very effective;
