Joan Miró, Affiche pour l'Exposition Miró-Artigas (1963)

This bright and lively work was originally created for a poster showcasing Miró and his ceramist friend Joan Gardy Artigas's works. Bold colors, lively imagery, and vivid spontaneity are standard to Miró's iconic works, and this piece is no exception. The central form, reminiscent of a musical note, appears alive with energy. One can clearly witness the exuberance of Miró's bold strokes in the circular formations at the center, which retain a painterly quality. Miró's curious shapes and colors swirl about the composition and even his and Artigas’s name at the bottom appear as if in motion, whimsically conveyed in his unique style.
