This rare and beautiful Eye-Candy Collector Grade LORD ELGIN 21 Jewel LA PORTE model wristwatch from 1952-54 is in great condition, running well and looking even better. The rich 14K Gold Filled case measures 37mm lug end to end and 25mm across  - case is in fine condition with no dings or dents and no brassing - there are no personalizations. The LA PORTE is one of the boldest designs to come from Elgin in the early 1950s with it's radically angled and beveled form, extended lugs, and checkered bezel top and bottom - Deco inspired to the max. I see no wear at all on this gorgeous 14K GF case, nothing even to the lug edges  -  considering where this was acquired and the accompanying case/papers I doubt the watch was ever worn regularly. The rectangular dial is attractive with fine Iines emanating from the center post to each numeral - at 6:00 is a lower seconds dial that would disappear in a few years on most watches. The 670 movement with 21 Jewels and Elgin's DuraPower mainspring is going strong and has performed well when tested for periods of time. The band is serviceable, it needs polished and has likely been on the watch for decades. The attractive Lord Elgin 21 Jewels DoraPower case is handsome, satin lined top and plush purple bottom, with the red/gold foil LA PORTE tag. This watch sold for 75.00 over 70 years ago - it is a gem if you collect fine and exceptional wristwatches. Buyer pays 9.95 safe bubble shipping, Insurance and tracking in USA
