LIGULARIA DENTATA “MIDNIGHT LADY”, LEOPARD PLANT

Ligularia dentata is a species native to China and Japan. “Midnight Lady” is an unusual and beautiful cultivar in commerce since 2008. It has a large (30 cm wide) shiny, purple-bronze, serrated leaves that are almost black when young. This rich, dark foliage stays coloured all season long. In summer are produced magnificent orange-yellow daisy flowers to 10 cm across on dark, sturdy, branched stems. Both flowers and leaves are great for cutting. Makes a strong statement in the border or at the waterside. An unusual centerpiece for a tub or large container. This Ligularia likes moist, rich soils and full sun. Long lived and easy-to-grow. Flowers in first year if sown early.
