Homeassistant is powerful, and esphome is so powerful, and radar technology is fresh and very smart, it's great to combine them! We share with you this body sensing radar that works great! An open, free, cloud-independent and highly reliable sensor! Bringing a new intelligence to your smart home.

(Important Notice: If you purchased our DIY Sensor 1U between 4/7/23, we recently released a significant OTA firmware (V2023_0704_1) that improves a great stability improvement. Please update it if possible. If you encounter problems, please contact us. )

The indispensable sensor in Home Assistant is the human presence sensor. With the latest 24Ghz millimeter wave radar technology, human detection can now dynamically analyze human breathing, movement and other patterns to detect moving or stationary humans. The data will be real-time feedback, which is a very good use of an intelligent sensor.

HLK-LD2410C and HLK-LD2410B have exactly the same characteristics, but use different package volumes, support Bluetooth adjustment parameters (using HLKRadarTool), it is a very good radar module that can be adjusted flexibly.

We tested a lot of esp32 modules, and between different radar modules, we found a nice little balance, through a simple and ingenious combination, they combine very small and simple. I think there is an advantage to this simplicity, which is to let it focus on its own thinking, motion detection and human presence. Its small size allows you to easily mount it on the wall, you can point it in the direction you want it to detect, and make it work the way you expect it to, I think, is a very simple sensor , but it is important.

Its size is a very good size, it can easily fit in the palm of the hand, a very small sensor., its size is: 36.7mm x 30mm x 13.8mm. It's square, so we can stick it up, or hide it if we can think of some way. The power supply is Type-c, 5v 1000ma. Since radar and ESP32 are sensitive to power supply, please choose some USB power supply with stable power supply.

This radar is specially designed for the connection of HomeAssistant. You only need to have a HomeAssistant system. After configuring the sensor network, you can discover and configure devices in the same LAN, which is quite convenient.
If you encounter some troubles, the usb interface of the sensor is very convenient for more advanced maintenance work. Through the Esphome Web Tool, you can easily view logs, configure WIFI. If you are a lover full of DIY spirit, then this radar is also very suitable for you.

For its sensor characteristics, it uses 24Ghz Frequency Modulated Continuous, which makes it have some basic intelligence. It can echo the distance and energy of the detected object, including simply distinguishing whether it is an active object or a stationary one object.which can detect moving human body as well as stationary human body. Based on HiLink's LD2410C radar module, the module itself has Bluetooth function, and you can use HiLink's HLKRadarTool to adjust parameters very conveniently. Detectors are much smarter.

By combining the ESP32-S2 and the smart LD2410C to work together, and using the excellent and flexible ESPHome firmware, we can now make HomeAssistant easily sense the human body, and track distance and energy value changes easily through Bluetooth and the configuration APP (HLKRadarTool) combined with radar , allowing you to adjust the range of activities you want to perceive very flexibly and conveniently.

The sensor uses Type-C power supply, which is very convenient.

Using a well-designed 3D printed shell (designed by CSZ), it can be easily pasted on the wall, and the side with the Logo is facing the direction you want to sense. From then on, your HA can flexibly sense people coming and going up.

feature of product
- Using the ESP32-S2 chip, a member of the ESP32 series, it has excellent WIFI connection stability and performance.
- Well-tuned Esphome firmware, the signal is more stable, and it can make S2 work better.
- Support serial network configuration (improv_serial), This is currently a challenge for S2 support on esphome, we made some tweaks to make this possible.
- Quickly access HomeAssistant, automatically scan for new devices, and add them quickly.In the default firmware, your operation is very simple. We canceled the AP network configuration password, and also simplified the request for the API key in the connection process of HomeAssistant, so that you can find new devices in HomeAssistant so quickly and add it quickly, very convenience.
- Get the brightness of daylight by reading the daylight sensor on the radar.This is a new firmware function of LD2410C, which will be available in the firmware version released in February 2023. We have made some fine-tuning to the official library to use the engineering mode to obtain the light sensor value output by the radar, which can roughly respond Changes in daylight. If you want ray data, it might be able to give you some help.

Instructions
- After power on, use the default AP hotspot (SCREEK HUMAN-SENSOR) to configure the network. The default AP does not have a password, just connect directly.
- After configuration, HomeAssistant in the same LAN can discover the device and complete the addition.
- Use the mobile phone APP that comes with the radar to configure the APP parameters through Bluetooth.

Note
- LD2410 is a 24GHz radar module that can detect human breathing, movement, micro-motion, and lying down, and can detect in real-time whether there are people indoors. It has a sensing distance of 5 meters, supports serial port and high/low level output, has a detection angle of ±60°, an accuracy of 10cm, and a resolution of up to 0.75 meters12. This radar module can be widely used in fields such as human sensing lighting control, advertising screens with human sensing wake-up, life safety protection, intelligent air conditioning, smart home appliances, and intelligent security.

FAQ
What is the difference between radar and infrared induction, what are the advantages and disadvantages?
Radar advantages:
a, ranging advantage: radar identification target can provide distance value, infrared can not output the target distance value;
b, sensitivity advantage: radar can detect micro-motion stationary targets, infrared requires a target greater than a certain speed to be detected;
c, environmental adaptability: radar is very little affected by the temperature of the external environment, infrared is affected by environmental temperature and humidity, etc;
d, structural design advantage: the radar can penetrate the plastic shell, no need to make additional holes in the structure. Aesthetic.
Infrared advantage: low power consumption, cheap

Are radar detection and ultrasonic detection similar? What is the difference?
Answer:
Radar emits electromagnetic waves and the wave speed has nothing to do with pressure and temperature, ultrasound is an acoustic wave is a mechanical wave and the wave speed is related to the pressure and temperature of the measured medium (air).
So radar use a wider range, radar test accuracy than ultrasonic.

Another Thing
We are very pleased to announce that we have manufactured small radars and sent them to users in many countries. Although it is relatively inefficient and time-consuming to make by hand, it is a lot of fun to share with everyone. Therefore, we will work very hard to make some more sensors and continue to share them with you.

For those of you who still want a human body radar, you are always welcome, and we continue to shop for components and materials, and we can provide a large number of radars.

This radar brings a lot of new possibilities to HomeAssistant, and the dynamically adjustable parameters are just delightful. This is a revolutionary technology for pir and the price is in an acceptable range.
