Native Sassafras tree 3-4’ tall.

Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) is a deciduous shrub/tree that is used ornamentally in large-scale screen and naturalized plantings.

It makes a great addition to a cottage garden. Tree's most appealing features are interesting bark, fresh aromatic scent and broad smooth leaves that look like clapping hands when in wind movement. The tree eaves change color in fall. Good companion plants that contrast these changing colors include bushy asters, sourwood, and blue stars.
