AZ, the standard model for a new generation of guitarists
Ibanez Prestige AZ Model
The trend toward more technical guitar playing is gaining momentum every day, and musical styles such as rock, metal, blues, jazz, and fusion are becoming more and more fused.
With the advancement of the Internet and digital devices, it is no longer unusual for an individual player's reach to extend beyond national borders, and performances can now be easily distributed. As a result, a "large" community has been formed in which players of all nationalities, ages, and genders can participate and be appreciated. It became a destiny to keep updating originality, techniques, and methods of expression. A new generation of guitar heroes and heroines from all over the world were flying into the world one after another with new wonders.
Ibanez prides itself on being the leading modern guitar brand, creating guitars that are sought after by today's players. The AZ is the result of Ibanez's "A to Z" experience, and is the culmination of Ibanez's accumulated guitar-making DNA, which has been incorporated into every aspect of the AZ to achieve the elements required by the modern player. This can be seen in the mix of modern and classical in the design, color, and design of each part of the guitar.
So, is it possible to create a good guitar with a good sound simply by collecting "good parts"? We at Ibanez believe that "good sound" has no basis in reality, but rather is based on "the sound you are looking for. A guitar that produces the sound you want is a good guitar. Ibanez believes that the individual parts and designs of a guitar are not independent of each other, but rather work in sync with each other to define the sound character, resulting in the desired sound.
Is AZ a reworking of the traditional guitar? Is it a guitar that follows others? The only way to find out is to pick it up and play it. The birth of the AZ is a sign of things to come. It just means that a new generation of guitars has been born.
S-TECH WOOD roasted maple 1pc neck & fretboard
The fingerboard and neck are made of estec-treated maple. Estec treatment is a nitrogen heat treatment technique for wood developed in Sendai, Japan, and is the first of its kind in the world to be used for guitars. Estec wood has characteristics such as shape stability, durability against warping, water resistance, and resistance to temperature changes, all of which have been patented in Japan. The neck thickness is 20.5*22.5 (at 1F*12F), which was determined to be the best after many prototypes and verifications. The neck is finished with an oil finish that gives the neck the look and feel of a well played guitar neck.
AZ Modern Oval C Neck Grip
This is an original neck shape developed by measuring and analyzing the neck grips of dozens of guitars made by AZ and other companies.
The neck is shaped to drop gently from the fingerboard-neck bonding surface to the fingerboard edge, and the fingerboard edge is rounded for a comfortable grip. The shape is accurately and reliably reproduced by ball milling.
The neck width is 42mm at the nut, and 56.4mm and 57mm at the last fret of the 22F and 24F models, respectively. The shape is designed to be easy to grip at the low frets and easy to play in the classical style with the thumb behind the neck at the high frets.
Body Design
The original body shape was designed for a contemporary look.
The thin body contour and large elbow contour, reminiscent of Ibanez's signature "S" model, create a sense of unity between the player and the guitar and contribute greatly to improved playability.
The deep neck of the body makes the guitar easy to hold and maneuver on stage, and also contributes to its high playability.
The ergonomic design allows the player to feel the fit the moment he or she holds the guitar, regardless of whether he or she is seated or standing.
Seymour Duncan Hyperion Pickups
We obtained more than dozens of pickups and measured the frequency response of all of them. The AZ pickups are the result of a collaboration with Seymour Duncan, a company with a long history as a pickup brand and one that continues to make new efforts in the field. This is a pickup for AZ. This is a custom pickup that focuses on the followability and reproducibility of picking, with the output being kept low so that the cleanness of the original sound remains somewhere even when distorted.
The total balance from treble to bass and from the 1st to 6th strings is important, and we also pursued good effects. All magnets are Alnico-5.
dyna-MIX w/Alter switch
The HH model can freely switch between humbucker and single coil modes by switching a mini-switch, ensuring a wide range of sound variations. (10 types for the HH model and 9 types for the SSH model)
This is a switching system for the modern guitar player who must play multiple roles with limited equipment and limited resources.
Alter switch
HH model: Switches to Power Tap mode for a realistic single coil sound. The special wiring that taps one coil and utilizes the low frequency range of the other coil produces clear highs and a thick, clear sound that cannot be obtained with a simple tap.
SSH model...Series wiring of the neck and center single coil simulates the 22F neck humbucker sound.
Ibanez T1802 Tremolo Bridge (made by GOTOH )
The Ibanez T1802 Tremolo Bridge is a new version of the GOTOH 510 bridge, which has an established reputation as the definitive tremolo bridge among many players and guitar brands, through a collaboration between Ibanez and GOTOH.
It features a hard-cut titanium saddle and a cut steel inertia block for both a solid and fat sound with a good sound startup, as well as an extended high frequency range.
The narrow spacing design with a 10.5mm pitch between strings allows for ease of picking across the strings, which is required by players who frequently use skipping and hybrid picking.
The arm socket can be used with the Ibanez Edge tremolo arm or the Ultra Light tremolo arm (made of carbon / UTA20 / sold separately). The arm socket can be snapped in without having to turn the arm in like a conventional arm. An arm torque adjustment mechanism is also provided, allowing the player to adjust the arm angle to his or her preference. In addition, a stud lock mechanism is also included as standard equipment, which contributes greatly to tuning stability and resonance by locking the arm firmly in place with an imo screw embedded in the stud.
A floating two-point support system is used for smooth arming and arming up.
GOTOH H.A.P-M machine heads
GOTOH Magnum Lock machine heads, which are known for their tuning stability, are used.
The H.A.P. (Height Adjustable Post) mechanism allows the height of the post to be adjusted to provide the proper tension for each string.
