the guard was lose when I got it a few years ago
I re-secured the guard with some rope as shown
the sword is now solid enough to swing around and do some cutting
the scabbard was deteriorating and has been mediated
the original scabbard had a date marking of 1890's  the sword blade is probably a much older blade as is typical for these
the blade has two symbol markings common on older swords and a mystery to most
with some meditation my understanding of the blade symbols is one for cutting power and one for puncturing power
the symbol on the gold element on the guard is an apparent voodoo veve
