2021 IIHF Women's Hockey World Cup in Calgary, AB, Canada  Picture Postage stamp - released September 2021.

 

The Stamp commemorates the rescheduled Championship Games held in Calgary, Alberta. Initially scheduled in the spring of  2020 in Halifax, NS and then cancelled because of the pandemic.  They were rescheduled in Calgary, AB during August 2021. Because of the Pandemic  the games were played without an audience and broadcast on TV. - see comments on the FDC.   The final game resulted in the Canada team winning GOLD and the USA SILVER. 

This stamp follows three stamps issued in 2020 commemorating three Hockey Championships in Slovakia, Czech Republic and Halifax, Canada. In 2021 three stamps were issued for the Men's World Jr. in Edmonton, AB, World U18 in Fresco, TX, and Mens World Cup in Riga, Latvia

Canada Post printed a very limited issue (Picture Postage) commemorating this Championship. The stamp issued will be listed in the new CPPC (Canadian Picture Postage Collectors Catalogue)  - picturepostage -net. For the CANADIAN SPECIALIST COLLECTOR: This issue was printed in the BOOKLET and SHEET format - the difference in paper  used by Canada Post created a small difference in the colour. Order TWO stamps and receive both varieties.

NB - the FINAL GAME of the  2023 Women Hockey World Cup  was played in Brampton, Ontario, Canada on April 16 2023. The Austrian Post Office printed a commemorative stamp for us. AVAILABLE approximately May 5 2023 - SEE SCAN above
