Pentax K2 camera with 50mm f1.4 lens, just back from a thorough going thru, and has a ONE YEAR WARRANTY.  The K2 was the aperture-priority, plus metered manual camera from the mid-to-late 70's. Same body size as the K1000, but it is heavier. Full information viewfinder (nice!), shutter speeds from 1/1000 down to 8 seconds, flash sync at 1/125 sec (try THAT with your K1000!).
