CUPHEA PURPUREA “FIREFLY”

This is a hybrid resulting from the cross between Cuphea llavea and C. procumbens. It is an evergreen, bushy, tender sub-shrub with dark-green, ovate-lanceolate leaves to 8 cm long. From late spring to first frost the plants produce in great profusion brilliant, cherry red flowers to 3 cm long that are very attractive for butterflies and hummingbirds . Cuphea “Firefly” is excellent annual for beds, borders,containers, edging and rocky gardens. It can be grown as a houseplant. Easy to grow.
