A quick growing hardy biannual variety. They have purple stems and flowers that appear from May - June in the following year. The seed heads are ornamental and are used in dried flower arrangements. The plants will reach an eventual height of approx 30 ' or 70 cm. They self-seed quite freely.

Sow the seeds from Apr - May on the surface of a good quality damp seed compost. Cover lightly with compost. Place in a propagator or in a plastic bag. Keep at 16 -20 degrees.

Germination can take 3 weeks.

Pot on into 3" pots when they are large enough . Gradually acclimatise to outside. Plant out into final positions from late May about 12" apart.

The germination of seeds is very dependent on many factors, light, moisture levels, temperature, soil conditions etc. We cannot be held responsible for poor levels of germination.
