This is the sought after 1st Issue of COLORS magazine by Benetton from Fall / Winter 1991.

The magazine was art directed by Oliviero Toscani who also provided the famous controversial ads including a newborn baby, love in the clergy and a black mother breastfeeding a white baby. The ads created a huge storm all over the world at the time when it was published in 1991.

There are also several interesting features inside echoing the theme of united colours, including a story on Gay Officers Action League GOAL in New York.

The magazine is also the lookbook for Benetton's 1991 - 1992 Fall / Autumn Winter collections.

Contains some truly iconic images.   Also previous campaigns from the 1980's are referenced in an index in the back of the magazine.  Is this the ultimate in Italian preppy pop fashion?

It's a tasty larger format and printed on matt paper.

Oversized format: 28 x 35x 0.8 cm /  11" x 14"

Text: English / Italian.

COLORS Magazine by the United Colors of Benetton. Debut issue number 1 - “It’s a Baby!”

In 1991, the birth of a baby girl represented the launching of a new magazine on the editorial panorama. The photograph, taken by Toscani and already used for a Benetton advertising campaign, defined the novelty of the experiment: a magazine that, as it describes itself in the first editorial, is founded on a simple idea – Diversity is good – “borrowed” from the Benetton advertising campaigns.

Features graphic design by Tibor Kalman and photography by Toscani throughout.

VG condition.  Complete and clean.  It's an extremely rare issue and the price reflects this.

Scarce collector's item - insurance and tracking is included in all postage rates quoted.
