MICRO MINIATURE 1/144th or 1:144 SCALE MINIATURES

What does micro miniature 1/144th scale mean? It means that the dimensions of the model are 1/144 (0.694%) the dimensions of the original life-sized object. For instance, an American penny
($0.01) which has a diameter of 19.05 mm or 0.750 in/ 3/4 inch, in the micro miniature world will only be 0.005 inch or 0.13 mm in this scale.

In the dollhouse miniature category, this scale is known as the Dolls' dollhouse or Dollhouse's dollhouse. A typical house in this scale will be less than 2 inches across so most internal pieces or furniture will run about 1/4" to 3/8" in height or width.

Lots of patience, magnifying glasses, and tweezers are essential when working on these pieces. Also, they have a tendency to pop out of the tweezers, so be prepared to fall on your hands and knees to look for them with a flashlight and magnifying glasses.

The 1:144 scale is also closely related to the model railroading N scale (1:160) and sometimes pieces can be used interchangeably, but for the true connoisseur of miniatures, nothing but the same scale pieces are demanded.

Be prepared to fall in love with these tiny pieces! Once you catch the micro miniature bug, it will be hard to go back to bigger pieces. :)
