MEYERCORD PIN UP LAMP Stack of Wax 12 Translucent Colored Vinyl 45 rpm Records

I made this piece.

This piece was inspired by a "Love Connection" of records, pin up and naked Barbies. (Why? Just because... they are so funny)

The base is a vintage 60’s aluminum kitchen canister. It was part of a set of 4, but the sun bleached out a lot of the color, so my Wife donated it to the cause.

The pin up decals are 1940'S Meyercord period original. Unfortunately, they are so old that they fall apart when water is applied. So, I Elmer's glued the decals to the canister and then coated them in three coats of Mod Podge.

The 45’s are all vintage 1960’s translucent. I chose a color combination that I felt would make Barbie proud. The top 45 has a RCA Victor Records / Calendar Girl (Neil Sedaka) label. The bottom label is Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini / KAPP Records ~ Brian Hyland. Both labels are reproductions.

The two Barbies are poseable and removeable.

The actual lamp fixture is a new student desk lamp from Target that has been modified for this purpose.

The bulb, included, is a new 25-Watt LED Picture Light. Even though this bulb is comparable to a 3-watt incandescent it is still bright, so I suggest that you add an LED dimmer. (Lowes & Home Depot are useful sources). Lamp plugs into 110 V wall socket.

The stack of records rests on an oversized, removable metal ring located just above the pull chain. Makes for easy light bulb replacement when necessary. The removable ring also helps to "level" the stack of records.

The lamp is 22" tall. The stack of wax has a 7" diameter and is 7 1/2" tall. The canister is 7" tall x 8" in diameter.

The lamp weighs 4 lbs. before packing materials.

Makes a great Birthday, Man-Cave, Christmas or Holiday Gift for the ultimate Pin-Up, Elvis, Beatles or Rock n’ Roll memorabilia collector. If you have a Juke Box in your home or garage...you NEED this accent piece and if you don't have a Juke Box, then you really need this lamp.

NOTE:

1) DO NOT use an incandescent bulb as it will warp the records. Trust me, I discovered this the hard way.

2) Please do not disassemble the stack of records. The records are only marginally playable, and none are “collectable”. If you take it apart, getting the stack back into the right order is a challenge.

3) As for dusting, I am including a Swiffer branded duster. Perfect for getting in between the records.

4) Keep away from heat sources; Windows | Sun | Heaters & Heating Ducts | Tube amplifiers or computer towers. Heat from these sources may distort the Tower of Wax.
