The Dodge Royal was produced between 1954 and 1959 and discontinued in 1960 when the full size Dodge range was reduced to 2 levels. It was only offered with a 241 cubic inch "Hemi" V8 engine. The Royal first appeared in 1954 in Dodge 's top line. It was proposed only. This range consisted of 4-door saloon, convertible, club coupe and sports coupe the latter being with a 2-door hardtop. The second and third generations between 1955 and 1959 were presented as an intermediate model of the Dodge marque. The Royale Lancer designation was applied to the 2-door hardtop model and then extended in 1956 to include a new 4-door hardtop model.
