36 5/8 W x 14 3/4H x 24 1/2D Offering an large antique schoolmaster's table top desk in an old brownish red original paint. This desk is in great antique condition, with no obvious splits or defects, and maintains a great patina with it's original paint. It is made completely with poplar wood, and has two fully dovetailed drawers and two additional cubbies. The cubbies are a 4x9 opening , as is the drawer front. This desk possibly belonged to someone named C. J. George, as that name appears on the drawer front and inside lid. The inside is unpainted and very clean. The lid is made with breadboard ends, and all the joinery is mortise and tenon. This probably dates to the early to mid 19th century, and may have been used by a schoolmaster, teacher, or possibly as a foreman's desk. It has it's original cast iron butt hinges on the lid, but the closure hasp appears long gone. Selling at a very reasonable price for an antique of this age and quality.
