The Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics were both undefeated when they met at theBoston Garden on November 10th 1984. Late in the 3rdquarter, Larry Bird had scored 42 points to Julius Erving’s 6 points.  Bird had been goading and trash-talking Erving most of the game, and after Bird had been called for a foul after throwing an elbow at Dr. J, things went south quickly.  Erving reacted by throwing punches at Bird, who reacted by grabbing Erving by the neck, Erving grabbed Bird, and the benches cleared.  Both Bird and Dr J were ejected and fined; and the Celtics went on to win the game 130-119.
