Color - Indicolite tourmalines (tourmalines with blue in them) are rare. Indicolites that are pure blue (that have no green in them) are extremely rare and indicolites that also are a Paraiba (contains copper and manganese) from Mozambique are the rarest. This is one has a gorgeous navy blue color with a [fat] pear shape.

Origin
Some of the finest Indicolite in the world is found in Minas Gerais, Brazil; in particular at the Pederneira and Cruzeiro mines near the village of Sâo José Da Safira. In addition to Brazil, Indicolite has also been found in Russia, Mexico and Pakistan.

Color-
Blue -Indicolite (Blue) Tourmalines have a color range from a light greenish-blue to a strong blue with a secondary green and are available in light to dark tones

With a hardness of 7 to 7.5 and no cleavage, tourmalines of all types have good durability. However, watch out for stones with flaws/low clarity because these may be weaker.

These gems flaunt trade names such as 'indicolite', the name given to a range of blue tourmalines, and 'verdelite', the name given to a range of green tourmalines. Both named varieties are often tinged with blue, green or violet offering a broad spectrum of colours in varying saturations.
