Receipt is for $1.55 for 5 gallons of gas at 25 cents/gallon and 1 quart of oil for 30 cents. The items were purchased by Mr. E.E. Townsend, a traveling sales agent for the St Joseph Stockyards Company of St Joseph, Missouri and was submitted as part of his October, 1925 Expense Report.

The Oasis' Proprietor, William J. Crume, was born in Oklahoma in 1893 and died in Elida, New Mexico in February, 1970. He had moved to Elida around 1910 and the 1920 and 1930 census lists him as owning the service station. He is listed as a "merchant" in 1940 and as a retail manager in 1950.
