Here is a stunning HAMMERSLEY VICTORIAN VIOLETS ENGLAND'S COUNTRYSIDE BONE CHINA CREAM JUG.  This item is first quality.

Hammersley was founded in 1862, in Longton Staffordshire.  It has gone through a number of takeovers, over the years, merging with Spode in 1976 and in 1988 was sold to Aynsley.  Looking at the backstamp on these pieces, it would seem they date to between 1939-1952.  However, I don't know if Spode or Aynsley continued with the same backstamp or produced them under their own.  I would imagine they are the 1936 - 1952 version.  If anybody knows definitively, please let me know, as during my research I could find nothing showing Aynsley or Spode specifically.

The creamer has a white ground.  It has delicate sprays of larger and smaller sprays of violets and also single petals scattered throughout.  The top rim, handle and foot are gilded.  The gilding is not rubbed.

To the underside of the item you will see the Hammersley backstamp which reads: Victorian Violets from England's Countryside Made In England Bone China and Hammersley.  The wording surrounds the recognisable acorn above a crown symbol.

The creamer measures approximately 3 1/2" high from the footed base to the top of the spout.   It has a capacity of 300 ml (1/2 pint).

This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.  I doubt it has ever been used.

I will be listing other items in this pattern, namely a pot stand,  milk jug, large sugar bowl (or slops bowl), cake plate and a bread plate.  If you wish to purchase more than one item, I can combine the items in one parcel to save postage.  If you are buying more than one item, please add to basket and the order will be combined.  Please do not pay until I have worked out the revised shipping costs for you.

Please view the images as they form part of the description.  Items are described honestly, and, in part, due to my research.  Please satisfy yourself that these are correct.

Any white marks on the images are light reflections and not flaws on the item.
