1969 C3 Corvette
The third generation Corvette, patterned after Chevrolet's "Mako Shark" (designed by Larry Shinoda), ran from 1968 to 1982. The Hot Wheels line of 1/64-scale die cast toy cars was introduced to the public in an unorthodox way in 1968. General Motors had been trying to keep the appearance of their upcoming car a secret, but the release of the Hot Wheels line several weeks before Corvette's unveiling sparked interest among fans. The "Custom Corvette" model was of particular interest, as it was an authorized GM version of the 1968 Corvette.

The 1968 third-generation Corvettes were so successful that the 1969 models only received a few small updates, mostly focused on increasing comfort and safety. The most significant change for the new year was the addition of a small-block engine option. The most obvious change on this model was the addition of the “Stingray” emblem on the sides. Another way to tell a 1968 apart from a 1969 model is by the single-lever handles instead of thumb-operated chrome handles.
