An antique French cross-handled wicker basket dating probably from the 1900s.  This style of basket was used all over France in the days when shopping was done daily and often at the local market.  This example shows all the wear and tear of an object of daily use, with some bits of broken wicker on one handle, the leather clasps missing on the front and tied with string on the back, and a strong lean to one side.  But it is no less charming for all that, and although I'd hesitate to use it for anything heavy it makes a great decorative piece.  Measures approx 35cm long by 25cm high and 20cm wide.
