Vintage set I purchased in Germany in 1979 ( 43 yrs old ). The chess set is made of reconstituted crushed stone. Hand finished in a work shop in England. See history card that came with the set. ( photo provided ). It is in mint condition! The pieces are large which gives them such a presence. The king which is the largest stands 7.25 inches tall  and 2 inches at the widest part of the base.
