Used 1979 Mercury 9.8 hp 2 stroke Pull Starter assembly with casting number 79596 with starter sheave assembly casting number 50-74345. We did not test run this outboard motor prior to disassembly but we did pull the pull starter rope several times and it seemed to work fine. Online manuals indicate that this assembly will also fit a similar vintage 7.5 and 9.8 Hp Mercury outboard motors.

Since this pull start assembly is more than 10 years old we recommend to install a rebuild kit or at least disassemble it and inspect and grease it. This outboard was assembled in Canada with serial number 7141677. Measuring tape is not included but only shown for dimensions. To avoid injury, harm or malfunction we suggest that all parts should be installed by a certified outboard motor mechanic. We only ship to Canada & USA.
