The quality of my bags speaks for itself, and I don't cut corners when it comes to the added shoulder straps. I only use high-grade men's belts to ensure that the straps are not only strong but comfortable, too. This leather is reminiscent of the equestrian leather halter straps that are used to handle powerful horses. And if that's not enough, I also incorporate half-centimeter thick mooseskin into many of my designs. Nothing wimpy here - just quality and character that will stand the test of time, even under the most rugged of lifestyles.

What I love about this wonderful old backpack/rucksack:

This is truly a stunning vintage backpack. Distressed and wonderfully reinforced when I found it. It has added leather to the buckle straps to make them double-thick and more durable; even to the top of the shoulder straps! It also has multiple brass riveted reinforcements.
I have worked to create an heirloom quality piece of art and added even more reinforcements using my favorite go-to pounded copper rivets.
I love the wool on the inside of the Shoulder Straps; this really helps it stay on your shoulders.
My labor of love in this rucksack is adding an inside grab-and-go handle to hang on a doorknob, the back of a chair, or a hook in your office. It makes is really easy to load and unload your backpack; almost like having a third hand. Once you try the handle on the inside you'll love it. It's made of high-quality 9-11 ounce moose skin hide. If you're not familiar with leather-ounce ratings it means it's nearly half a centimeter thick. It is like deerskin but thicker; it is my favorite leather in the world. The inside handle is my own unique design and is comfortable to hold in your hand.
I also have added a new baseball glove leather lacing cord and handmade moose skin leather cinch which also has a unique two-layer pull through giving it consistent friction which holds nicely.
I love that the pockets on the side and front are large and unlined leather.
There is a Polo patch that was put on by the previous repair person. It looks nice. It could be a Ralph Lauren bag but there are no official labels anywhere. My guess is that it was made in the late 1980s, or early 1990s by Ralph Lauren and then it has been used and abused and repaired and reinforced and now it is truly a piece of art; this one has that truly coveted look.

Nice large size - the measurements in inches are approximately: 15H x 11W (not including the side pockets) x 8D (not including the front pocket)

I have this listed as a Men's bag but any woman who appreciates rugged leather goods could make this work for that perfect rugged look.
