Description

This is a traditional white pith hat that features an emblem for: 
'Grenadier Guards   
VR'
 
Which can also be seen on the tin 
'The Grenadier Guards is the most senior, infantry regiment of the British Army, being at the top of the Infantry Order of Precedence. It can trace its lineage back to 1656 when Lord Wentworth's Regiment was raised in Bruges to protect the exiled Charles II.' 
 
The hat also features a chin strap, later added brass top and removable top 


Embossed into the leather interior of the hat is the maker: 
'Hobson & Son 
London Ltd'
 
'Established in 1850, Hobson and Sons is recognised as the leading manufacturer of uniform clothing and equipment in the United Kingdom.' 

 
The interior is also embossed with the size, military numbers and the date:

The is also a label on the interior of the hat for the retailers: 
'Army & Navy Cooperative Society' 
'The Army and Navy Co-operative Society Ltd was incorporated on the 15th of September, 1871. It was formed by a consortium of army and naval officers for the supply of goods to its members at the lowest possible rates.' 
 
The comes in an original metal toleware tin which has the name of a previous owner.
