Product description

Pontos (flufenacet, picolinafen) 5L herbicide for winter cereals

Pontos - herbicide used before and after emergence in winter cereals

What are the benefits of using Pontos weed control product?

For soil application before emergence and foliar application after emergence of weeds,
    Effectively fights unwanted weeds,
It contains as many as two active substances: flufenacet and picolinafen, which complement each other, which makes POntos even more effective,
You have the ability to mix with other herbicides - flexibility,
Low dose per hectare - saving,
Convenience - Pontos is in the form of a concentrate.

Pontos is a plant protection product produced by BASF from the group of herbicides. It comes in the form of a concentrate in the form of a concentrated suspension.

It was intended for soil application before emergence and foliar application after emergence of weeds. It works on both monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous weeds.

The agent is intended for use with self-propelled or tractor field sprayers.

What is the active ingredient content of Pontos herbicide?

    Flufenacet (a compound from the oxyacetamide group) - 240 g/l (20.98%),
    Picolinafen (a compound from the pyridinecarboxamide group) - 100 g/l (8.74%).

How does BASF Pontos Winter Grain Herbicide work?

As you already know, the Pontos weed killer contains two active ingredients: flufenacet and picolinafen.

Each of these substances has a different mechanism of action, which makes them complement each other. Thanks to this, no matter what species of weeds would attack your plants - they have no chance against these two!

The active substance picolinafen is additionally new on the market - it will surprise you.

The pontos is taken up through both the above-ground parts and the roots. It inhibits the growth and development of weeds.

The agent most effectively destroys weeds in the 2-3 leaf stage.

In drought conditions, the pre-emergence effectiveness of the agent may be significantly reduced as a result of the inability to get the active substance into the root system of weeds.

What weeds does Pontos - pre-emergence work on?

sensitive weeds: field violet, field mustard, chickweed, grain broom, speedwell, chamomile, shepherd's purse,
moderately sensitive weeds: field poppy, odorless maruna, clingwort, volunteer rape, foxtail.

Which weeds does Pontos weed control post-emergence work on?

sensitive weeds: field violet, field mustard, chickweed, field poppy, grain broom, speedwell, common chamomile, bedweed, volunteer rape, shepherd's purse,
moderately sensitive weeds: odorless maruna, foxtail.

How to use Pontos herbicide?

This agent is intended for application to the soil before emergence and foliar application after emergence of weeds.

In regions where there is resistance to oxyacetamide herbicides, including flufenacet, the product shows lower effectiveness.

At the maximum recommended rate (1.0 l/ha), all the weeds listed for Pontos (both sensitive and intermediate) are fully susceptible to the herbicide.

Detailed information on the dosage and use of Pontos plant protection product can be found in the "Dosage" section and in the Plant Protection Product Label included in the downloads.

What crops can Pontos herbicide be used on?

    Winter wheat,
    Winter triticale,
    winter rye,
    Winter barley.

What is the prevention and withdrawal period when using Pontos herbicide in winter cereals?

The withdrawal period, i.e. the period from the last application of the product to the day the crop is harvested, does not apply to Pontos. As is the withdrawal period for feed (the period from the last application of the product to the crops intended for feed until the day when the animals can be fed with these crops) and the preventive period, i.e. from the application of the product to the date on which the area where the product was applied people can enter and animals can enter.

Can Pontos be used for weed control without worrying about the succeeding crops?

Yes, because both picolinafen and flufenacet decompose in the soil during the growing season. Thanks to this, they do not pose a threat to subsequent plants.

What are the recommendations when using potable liquid made with Pontos?

The recommended doses of the agent depend on the compactness of the soil and the type of weed infestation.
Use lower doses on lighter soils and higher doses on heavy soils with a higher content of humus.
On some cereals or varieties, the use of the product may cause phytotoxicity symptoms, including discoloration. These symptoms are transient and do not affect yielding.
Do not mix the agent with the soil.

  Do not use the agent:

− on light, sandy soils, poor in humus, stony, as well as flooded with water or susceptible to flooding
− in the case of seed sowing shallower than 2.5 cm due to the possibility of plant damage
− in the event of forecasted heavy rainfall and in periods of frost or frost. Treatment in such conditions may contribute to inhibition of growth and the appearance of phytotoxicity symptoms on the protected cereal, including discoloration. However, these symptoms are transient and should not affect the yield
− on plantations under stress conditions, caused by e.g. by the occurrence of diseases and pests, flooding with water, previous chemical treatments or inappropriate soil conditions that hinder germination and growth.

When using the preparation, do not allow:

− drift of spray liquid onto neighboring crops, with a buffer zone of 1 m wide from adjacent crop fields being recommended, especially during plant emergence,
− overlapping of the usable liquid at the joints of treatment strips and headlands.

More information can be found in the Label attached to the downloads.
