For your consideration is a very nice PLATTER WITH SIGNED BOX BY RANDY JOHNSON.  Mr. Johnson apprenticed with both TATSUZO SHIMAOKA and WARREN MACKENZIE. and he is represented in the Pucker Gallery, Boston.  The checkerboard diamond design in the field was achieved using a tenmoku iron glaze over a nicely contrasting grey claybody.  There are some handsome iron burnouts from the clay and the foot is professionally trimmed  by a master potter (a small detail but one I always enjoy seeing!).  The pattern is simple and bold and is quite powerful.  The dimensions are 10 1/2 inches diameter by 1 1/2 inches in height.  It is signed with an 'RJ' impressed on the reverse and the box lid is also signed in the style of Shimaoka.  It is in perfect condition and there are no chips or cracks.  I will ship the box and plate separately but in the same container to help protect the box from damage during transport and I will double box.  (I have included some photos of some of my other listings  showing work by Shimaoka,  David Leach, David Cuzick and William Chappelow).   (C - 416)
