Tiffany & Co Schlumberger 18K Gold Turquoise Egg Charm Pendant Necklace, 18 inches, 5.7 Grams

Circa 1980s, a beautiful piece from Tiffany & Co by designer Jean Schlumberger. Crafted from 18 karat yellow gold in a fine polished finish with a lovely Turquoise Egg set inside a four panel basket like gold frame.  The top of the pendant has a pretty bow with a dangling long ribbon end engraved with the designers name and metal content. Suspended from a matching Tiffany & Co 18K yellow gold rolo link, the chain length is 18 inches long.  Turquoise is in very good shape and more in the "Tiffany" blue color. There were different sizes in the Schlumberger eggs, this is the smaller version.

French jeweler, Jean Schlumberger, started working for Tiffany & Co in the 1950s and is widely considered one of the most important jewelry designers of the 20th century. With a stated desire to “capture the irregularity of the universe”, many of Schlumberger’s designs were inspired by nature and the creatures that inhabit it. His bejeweled legacy includes this Persian Turquoise encrusted Tiffany egg charm topped off with a jauntily tied golden bow.

Proving that eggs are not just for Easter, this egg symbolize fertility and the beginning of all life. The eggs are based on rubber moulds that Pippa has made from her own parrot and chickens' eggs, before transferring the shape into resin followed by precious stones.
