Dragon Garnet / Color Change Fluorescent Chromium>Vanadium Malaya GARNET represents the rarest, most unique type of Exotic Garnet that is just beginning to appear on the worlds market in semi-sustainable quantities. Not only is this stone strongly fluorescent exhibiting dramatically different colors under various UV light frequencies but it is also strongly color shifting under cold light (7000° K), neutral white/daylight ((5000° K), and warm/ incandescent light (2700°K) temperatures. The 395 nm type-A UV light produces the most dåramatic effect, turning the stone neon fire engine red (grade I), raspberry red (grade II), and pink with red flashes (grade III). Each grade is evaluated separately with grade I, showing the strongest fluorescent response, being most valued.
Somewhat similar gems were previously seen only sporadically (as single finds) and the mine producing sustainable quantities of the new DRAGON GARNET was not discovered until the second quarter of 2022.
Now you can own by far the rarest most unique Garnet, considerably rarer than even grade 1 chrome green Ural Mountains DEMANTOID, blue Garnet, and even Alexandrite type color change Garnet!
The new trade name “DRAGON GARNET” was chosen by Ravenstein Gem Co., LLC customers and given to this NEW exciting find of Color Change Fluorescent Chromium>Vanadium Malaya Garnet.
This gem is color shifting / changing under various light temperatures and exhibits distinct colors under different UV light frequencies. The colors of the Dragon Garnets available at this site have more variety and beautiful “evening” color tones, meaning that these colors look even more attractive in incandescent light (at around 2700°K), when lit by the fireplace and/or candle flames (approximately 2000° K), or during sunset and sunrise when the Sun is just barely over the horizon producing a color temperature of 1900° Kelvin.

SIZE: 6.5 x 6.4 x 3.8 mm. Calibrated size: NO (The word “Calibrated” means that size of this gem was optimized to fit most inexpensive mass produced jewelry setting). All non-calibrated gems can also be set into jewelry. Ask your local jeweler for details. For customer not familiar with the metric system: 1 inch is 25,4 millimeters.
COLOR: as photographed / grade 3=weak - stone changes color to Pink with Red Flashes under 395 UV.. Each gemstone changes its color based on the type of light source, from neutral white (daylight) to incandescent (candle light), to cold LED light, as well as several types of UV light frequencies, most importantly 365nm and 395nm.
CLARITY: * VVS2 * Rutile inclusions are the thin needles. Dark crystal inclusions are typically silver, some pyrite and we also found gold content due to the nearby gold mine. There can be also other heavy metal inclusions and their oxides.
All colored stones are graded with trained unaided eye. All diamonds are graded under 10x magnification (GIA / International)

HARDNESS: 7.5 Moh’s Scale (Harder than Amethyst, little softer than Topaz or Aquamarine. Suitable for everyday jewelry wear).
TREATMENT: NONE Natural color. We don’t apply radiation, oiling, diffusion and/or heat treatment in order to make low grade material look more expensive! We offer 100% natural gems only, no exceptions.
