The local villagers visit the river in Onkar Mandhata to collect the lingams from the river bed and polish these river rocks to better define their famed lingam shape. All the Shiva lingams are hand polished and waxed to give a smooth feel and shine.
Shiva lingam usually appears in brown or tan color with striped patterns, spots, or patches of different browns, reds, and grays depending on the mineral inclusions. Some Shiva lingams are found in black color. Shiva lingam specimens widely vary in size, with some reaching 10-feet tall.
We recommend cleaning the Shiva lingams only with cold water to keep them dust free and dry them using microfiber cloth. Avoid using any kind of scrubber that can cause scratches on the surface.
