Condition and information:
In the rivalry of the East and West technology, it was usually the East that looked to the west before making their own products. But this was not always the case. Garant was one of the few east German companies that made some amazing writing instruments, and usually with very original design. Garant was well known East Germany pen company. It was also one of the biggest pen manufacturers in East Germany and one of the most innovative. They made some astonishing writing instruments with a know-how that even surpassed other western German brands. The pen offered here is unfortunately one of the last Garant pens before the breakup of the Eastern Block, made in mid 1980's the Docar model. The pen is made out of very smooth, brushed stainless steel, the build quality is visible and palpable, it's a great writing instrument. It is a convenient cartridge fillers, one of the rare pens from the east that adapted the new technology. The nib is soft stainless steel with nice polished finish, similar to the 80's Montblanc or Geha pens with steel nibs. It is smooth and precise on the paper, without skipping. The brown section and the cap-top make very nice and appealing combination with the steel pen, giving it that vintage but subtle look. The pen can be used with any international size cartridge or even a piston converter. The pen is in absolute mint condition, rarely found in such, perfect cosmetic and functional order. Truly rare and wonderful Garant East Germany pen, one of the best they've ever made.
