Curious about Novelty Yarns? Novelty Yarn such as Aruba or any "non-yarn" yarn if you will can be tricky and confusing to work with. Mrs. Knits has many years of experience with novelty. While you can knit with it to a certain extent, it's really not suited for anything more complex than a little hat or scarf with minimal shaping and huge (US size #15+) needles affectionately known as "broomsticks" in the knitting world.
Also, many of the big box stores novelty yarns are made of cheap materials that are mass produced and of low quality which is frustrating when it pulls/unravels or literally disintegrates with wear. Our Euro-Yarns are hand crafted in Europe (hence Euro-Yarns) in places like Italy or France who have hundreds of years in the craft. So while they tend to be very expensive, the quality is worth it. Plus as a bonus our clearance yarns are 50% off the retail price making it a more reasonable price and a solid investment.
What do we do with it? Make fringes for a scarf or a nice accent trim on a hat. If you are into sewing you can also use some of those yarns to create edgings like ribbon accents sewn into your creations. Most of all children really love the glitzy glamour as long as an adult supervises of course in a craft project. We don't want little ones to try and eat it or get tangled up.
Euro Yarn's Aruba is a ribbon yarn made in Italy, hence its namesake, Naples. The color shading runs from yellow greens to turquoise and leafy green in a bulky weight. Grassy colors come together for some "instant gratification" knitting or crocheting with this bulky, wide yarn.
