Impii Hora is the debut album by Danish musician Michael Schøn Poulsen (born January 1st). April 1975). He is the lead singer, rhythm guitarist and main songwriter of the rock band Volbeat. Asinhell is a band, not a side project. Before Volbeat, Michael's metal band was called Dominus, with Morten Toft Hansen, also from Ringsted, on drums. Michael was Dominus' lead singer, booker, manager and accountant. When putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, Poulsen wrote a number of death metal riffs. When he finished the Volbeat album, he began writing songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for Ungodly Hour) is a homage to Poulsen's favorite old-school groups. The songs are based on blistering riffs but feature strong guitar hooks and shout-along choruses.

“Bands like Death, Entombed, Bolt Thrower, Autopsy, Dismember, Grave, Mercyful Fate, Possessed and other old school bands are the reason we can even do this,” says Poulsen. Although he is proud to wear his influences on his sleeves, Asinhell has developed his own identity. "With Asinhell I tried to write songs without rules, but because I was so used to writing with Volbeat, I couldn't really stop myself from writing bridges, hooks or a certain type of chorus," he says. "I think the combination of old school death metal riffs with a bit of structure makes the songs really strong."
