We are happy to be able to offer for your consideration this magnificent antique faience armorial charger. Made in the north West corner of France and he painted by hand it is a lovely example of the pottery from this region.

It is 14 inches in diameter and an inch and a half deep. The tray is footed so it stands away from a wall or table. This kind of plate is lovely for serving cheese on. The colors are very vivid.

The center shows an armory crest or blason of Vannes, Brittany, a city southeast of Quimper on the Atlantic coast. The blason bears the motto or devise, “A Ma Vie” which translates to “To My Life.” Made as a wall plate for regional decoration or as a table centerpiece. Faience has been made at Desvres in France since 1732.

This plate was all handmade and hand glazed. There are no chips or damage only the irregularities that come with hand painting and glazing that are part of buying a old piece. It is in excellent condition probably because it was hanging on someone’s wall for years.
