This listing is for a Victorian era beaded cape recently found in the closet of an Ocean City, NJ estate sale. It is made of fine black ribbed wool with embroidered black velvet on the front and side panels. It has a high collar and hook and eye closure in the front. The front is longer than the back.

It is embellished with bands of jet black beads and orange and tan embroidery. decorated with black silk and crochet work. There is fringe embellishment around the collar and hem and each strand is decorated with orange and tan beads that match the embroidery.  It is lined with black cotton and has a grosgrain ribbon that ties around the waist.

This piece is heavy----it weighs just under 5 pounds.

Condition: Good. There are several strings of fringe that are missing, some loose and missing jet beads.  See close up photos.
