GLIDDEN operated between 1940-57. It is made of stoneware/ceramic materials (solid, heavy), and was originally produced in Alfred, New York, USA. Mid-Century Modern style. The AFRIKAANS pattern model and theme give it a distinctive look and feel, while the handcrafted studio technique adds to its artistic value. Hallmarked appropriately on underside of base #200 (photo). Designed by FONG CHOW (1923-2012) - chief ceramist designer at Glidden (1952-1957) and Curator, Far Eastern Dept. Matte glaze finish. Clean. VERY GOOD, preowned, vintage, used condition. No chips, cracks, breaks, hairlines or restorations that I can see. As is, as found.
