This gorgeous silver antique piece is no reproduction, guaranteed. Although no marks located, I can attest it's very likely early 1800s Victorian era, created as a utilitarian item for affluent, polite society; entirely authentic & also believe it's .925 Sterling Silver .. magnet will not stick anywhere & WAY too elaborate to be any common rhodium plate or other inferior metal. Here we have no corrosion or loss to silver areas. The brass stick pin (softer, maliable to manipulate easier) is housed in a silver backing & does show a tiny spot of corrosion .. commensurate of age. Photos greatly enhance microscopic aspects of metals too .. please bear that in mind viewing photos. We know early sterling generally went unmarked until 1826, depending on the country.
Estate History: This piece was aquired from a local antique's show in the mid 60s .. I know because when I spotted it, as an older child, I ran to my mother who purchased it, also immediately reckognizing it's stunning beauty & rarity. It was worn once before being carefully tucked away to preserve. Recently rediscovered, & now, after 6 decades, new to market.
