Overall Condition – well worn - as can been seen in thepictures. The spine is mostly gone,though many of the pages are still held together by the stitching. There issubstantial wear and crumbling to some pages, mostly near the beginning. Ataround plate 12 the pages start to be held together and are in better shape. While the binding is largely deteriorated, the two-page maps themselves are in good shape, and could certainly be mounted individually if that was yourchoice. The maps are really quite amazing, and beautiful. A fantastic Borough of Richmond history lesson and a rare artifact. Very colorful, though color iscertainly faded at this point.
This belonged to my grandfather (Edward J O’Regan), who was the Assistant Post Master on Staten Island for 29 years.
Binding loose, surface & edge wear, pages w/ tears, chips, stains, foxing, soiling, writing (6 pgs), wrinkled, age-toned, discoloration, spine separation, no repairs. View pictures for additional condition details.
