PH electrode basic principle
The electrode used in PH measurement is also known as the primary cell. The primary cell is a system that works to convert chemical energy into electrical energy. The voltage of this cell is known as the electric potential (EMF). This electromotive force (EMF) consists of two half-cells. One half-cell is called the measurement cell and its potential is related to a specific ionic activity; the other half-cell is the reference half-cell, often called the reference electrode, which is generally connected to the measurement solution and connected to the measurement instrument.
